C. Sean Burns is an associate professor at the University of Kentucky’s School of Information Science, where he teaches courses in the undergraduate ICT program and the graduate LIS program. Several of these courses, such as his LIS systems librarianship course and ICT systems administration course, require students to immerse themselves in Linux command line environments, an entirely new experience for most of his students. His short presentation will focus on two pedagogical strategies that help students learn to problem-solve: scaffolding topics to allow students to build skills and learning to write technical documentation to help students identify processes and develop problem-solving frameworksC.
