Joan Wakasa Murumba, Ph.D., is an Information Literacy Librarian and faculty member at Texas A&M International University, with expertise in information and knowledge management and over 13 years of experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. She has held leadership roles, including Director of Open, Distance, and E-Learning, Director of ICT, and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Informatics.Dr. Murumba is an active researcher who has published in peer-reviewed journals and authored a book, book chapters, and conference papers. Her research focuses on information literacy, information and knowledge management, information seeking behavior, blended librarianship, and the ethics of artificial intelligence. She has received several recognitions, including the Texas OER Fellowship (2024–2025) and the DIES International Deans’ Course Africa fellowship (2021–2022), funded by DAAD and HRK.She holds professional memberships in the American Library Association, the Association for Library and Information Science Education, the Kenya Library Association, and the Kenya Universities Quality Assurance Network. Dr. Murumba’s work is grounded in advancing reflective, ethical, and technology-integrated approaches to teaching and learning.
