Human trafficking screening and assessment tools collect sensitive information from individuals and then use this information to guide professionals such as victim advocates in standardizing the information and categorizing individuals in efforts to intervene and provide support to trafficking victims. My dissertation asks: What is the role of human trafficking screening and assessment tools as information-gathering instruments in human trafficking intervention and prevention? The ultimate goal of my dissertation is to improve the identification of trafficking victims by understanding how these tools are used and perceived by professionals as well as by developing a tool in collaboration with professionals.
