2026 ALISE Annual Conference

This study examines its own qualitative methodology, which employed surveys to better understand school librarians' experiences with social-emotional learning (SEL) and community building. Using an open-ended survey, K-12 school librarians share how they support SEL practices in their work. This project highlights how thoughtfully designed questions can lead to rich, meaningful responses, while acknowledging challenges like variations in response depth and lack of follow-up compared to interviews.
