2026 ALISE Annual Conference

This study analyzes 162 peer-reviewed articles on ChatGPT in Web of Science under the Information Science & Library Science category (2023–April 2026) using bibliometric and altmetric methods. Employing publication trends, citation analysis, Altmetric score, and keyword co-occurrence, the USA, UK, and China lead in research output; Dwivedi et al. (2023) have 2,306 citations and an Altmetric score of 259. Keyword co-occurrence analysis identifies ChatGPT as a dominant bibliometric hub, while clusters on academic libraries, information literacy, librarianship, and plagiarism suggest a reactive literature that fails to critically examine the LLM technology’s ethical and foundational issues.
