Through a case study approach, this project reports on the availability and accessibility of gender-inclusive bathrooms in the academic libraries at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). While gender-inclusive bathrooms are available at some of UIUC’s academic libraries, many of them are difficult to find due to outdated signage and maps and distance from library spaces. In addition to providing accessible and findable gender-inclusive bathrooms, it is recommended that libraries prioritize the privacy of trans and gender-nonconforming people by placing the restrooms in strategic locations.
