As generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) reshapes communication, distinctions between authentic and fabricated content are increasingly unstable, challenging traditional approaches to knowledge verification. This mixed-methods study analyzes 200 media articles using ATLAS.ti and Provalis Stats to identify indicators of misinformation and disinformation. Findings highlight the need to reposition academic libraries as sites of critical literacy and discourse analysis, where librarians foster strategies such as triangulation, source comparison, and interrogation of epistemic authority to navigate evolving information environments.
