The ways in which social media has shaped our lived experience, both in cyberspace and in the real world, are difficult to overemphasize. The researcher's current work seeks to understand the impact of social media by incorporating an additional lens, digital colonialism.   For this analysis, the researcher will examine ownership of social media platforms and internet service providers, and, if possible, data storage rules. Building on previous investigations into social media platforms, their policies, technologies, and communities, the researcher investigates whether benchmarks for digital colonialism are present in the user conditions of Angolan social media.
