In an evolving information environment characterized by linked data, semantic technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI), IKO knowledge and skills are increasingly essential. Despite this growing importance, recent studies of IKO curricula in LIS programs show a decline in formal educational offerings. This poster examines the current state of formal knowledge organization education in ALA-accredited LIS programs. It presents statistical analyses of LIS curricula, including comparative data from a 2020 study, along with content analysis of course descriptions and syllabi. Particular attention is given to emerging cataloging standards, ethical considerations, and technologies, and their alignment with core competencies.
