International students face mental health challenges while encountering barriers to accessing reliable information. As generative AI becomes embedded in everyday information practices, it may serve as a new source for mental health support, though concerns about its reliability persist. This study explores international students’ perceptions and use of generative AI for mental health information. Using semi-structured interviews with 20 students at U.S. universities, the study examines how they seek, interpret, and evaluate AI-generated responses. Findings contribute to understanding AI-mediated information practices and offer implications for universities and libraries.
