This poster shares the preliminary findings of an ongoing syllabus study that aims to identify and define the epistemological core of the field of Library & Information Sciences (and related departments). Building on prior work (LIS Forward, 2023; 2025; Gibson et al., 2025), this study examines what constitutes the LIS epistemological core and how it is represented and communicated as foundational in 40 LIS core course syllabi from a representative selection of 10 iSchools in the United States.
