WIP Poster: Exploring Alternative Pathways in LIS Education: Aligning Workforce Needs and Professional Identities

This poster presents a pilot study examining alternative pathways to library and information science (LIS) education and workforce development in Northeast Ohio. The Summer 2026 project explores the needs of employers, current and prospective workers, and educational providers through an environmental scan and a persona study. Findings will inform the design of stackable, credit-bearing credentials aligned with workforce demands and learner aspirations. Although regionally grounded, the project aims to develop scalable models for more inclusive and responsive LIS education pathways.
