Tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) are increasingly used in educational and library settings as collaborative storytelling activities that promote creativity, literacy, and problem-solving. Established play practices often include safety mechanisms designed to support inclusive and emotionally safe gameplay. However, the growing use of generative AI tools in TTRPGs introduces new ethical considerations that existing safety frameworks may not fully address. This poster reports preliminary findings from six focus groups with experienced players who use AI in gameplay, identifying themes related to bias, fairness, safety, and the inherent characteristics of generative AI systems in collaborative play.
