About me
Maegen Rose holds a BA from Pitzer College, a Master of Social Work from the University of Chicago, and a Master of Library and Information Science from Dominican University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Studies. For more than a decade, she has worked in independent schools as a librarian, and most recently as Director of Library Programs. Her professional practice centers critical information literacy and ethical research practice, equipping young people to be critical and empowered participants in their own information lives. Her research examines how Black youth engage young adult literature on social media as a way of navigating racial identity and building community. Through both scholarship and practice, she is committed to libraries being centers of belonging and intellectual freedom.
