About me
Baheya Jaber, a Palestinian librarian and doctoral graduate from the University of Alabama's School of Library and Information Studies, her research focuses on library services for marginalized communities, emphasizing social justice in diasporic communities, libraries in crisis, cross-cultural information management, and international librarianship.Her community-engaged scholarship, including her dissertation examining public library services for women refugees from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, represents the experiences of disenfranchised populations to develop information services models and strategic action plans furthering social justice, while her recent IMLS-funded team project explores civic engagement for racial justice in public libraries.She brings extensive teaching experience as an instructor for professional pathways and interpersonal communication, and as a guest lecturer in social media and informatics and information in communities. Drawing from her experience at Birzeit University Library, her work examines how libraries can serve as spaces of resistance while advancing equity and inclusion.
